I think this is an interesting idea, which is now being talked about in public. It seems like both sides, China and US have almost agreed that the future battlefield is in Philippines and maybe Japan. I wonder how most of the Pinoys really feel about their country being a likely battlefield? I think it's a great location for the big showdown since if war is going to destroy a place, might as well destroy a place with low economic development that won't affect global supply chains. India is even pouring oil on the fire since they can get more call center jobs.
