Trump Allies Draw Up Plans Targeting Legal Immigration
WASHINGTON—On the campaign trail, Donald Trump routinely promises he will end illegal immigration. Behind the scenes, his closest advisers and allies are also drawing up plans that would restrict many forms of legal immigration, some of which could affect the ability of businesses .
...
Last time around, Trump’s team struggled to fully implement most of its immigration policies because they weren’t issued properly, allowing them to be toppled by lawsuits from Democratic states and immigration-advocacy groups.
“They are explicitly more prepared this time around,” said Kristie De Peña, senior vice president for policy at the Niskanen Center, a think tank in Washington with libertarian roots that supports immigration. De Peña is one of several analysts tracking the emerging plans by parsing policy papers, social-media posts and public statements.
The best part is, Skydio can try to build an alternative supply chain outside of China, but it'll never be as competitive. They can speak proudly about the US defence industry needing to establish a new drone supply chain outside of China. But just for Skydio? There just isn't enough economies of scale there. So even if they setup a new supply chain for batteries from let's say Australia, all they way to India, it's still gonna be small, uncompetitive, and more expensive.China already sanctioned pretty much all US defence contractors, they all know what they're up against already, Skydio is just the first to openly cry about it to the White House. And yes they definitely are in bigger trouble than simply having to wait for alternative battery supplier if they're asking the White House for help.
An interesting detail about the Skydio situation is their battery supplier Amperex is partly owned by TDK, and TDK is large Japaneses company involved in battery development. US goverment and military have, on paper at least, strict supplier requirements, and Skydio's main business is US goverment, so there is a good chance they choose Amperex so they can claim their battery supplier is TDK, and used TDK being Japaness to pass supply chain requirements.
In other words Skydio's situation is a microcosm of the entire US defence industrial complex, the companies themselves are lying to the goverment about supply chain reliability, and they are far more reliant on China than US goverment realize.
This is the thing a lot of deciders don't realize. The Chinese market is much larger than the one in the US. The time when the US could boss others around claiming their market was larger is long gone. Because of this starting a business in China vs the US will nearly invariably lead to higher scale production and possible lower cost per unit. The best part is, Skydio can try to build an alternative supply chain outside of China, but it'll never be as competitive. Some clowns from a certain Supapowar had done something like that already. Using images from the PLA and the Chinese space program in their own propaganda posters.I'm eagerly waiting for some ignoramus using these images to demonstrate the splendor of the almighty US Navy.
LoL! Definitely. That is the reality hat the Argentinian pilots have to deal with because their nation had decided to buy American. I'm sure there is a workaround for that. But that is for them to figure out.I'm wondering in another war between Argentina and UK, if the IFF on these F-16s will identify all plans and vessels from UK as friends?
LoL! The irony is that China's doors are more open than the doors of these "freedom-loving nations" like the Anglo nations and that Bharat Supapowar. They try to close their doors to Chinese tourists. They tell their citizens not to travel to China. And then they blame China for being a hermit kingdom.Noah Smith: the imbecile being his normal imbecile self. BTW, more than 150 million Chinese travel overseas each year, and about the same number of foreigners will visit China each year once the effects of COVID-19 wear off.
LoL! The PLA gave the Indians a 变脸 (Bian Lian) toy.View attachment 138133

India and China exchanged sweets and other gifts along the "actual line of control" for Diwali.
Money is too good to ignore.
It's a mixed bag
Who says China doesn't want Trump to win?
Anyone saying China fears both parties equally is doing damage control.
