I mean there's a lot of fermented stuff but it adds good flavor and is only "taboo" (from the perspective of anglos eating unseasoned pink slime and cheese product) if you know exactly how it was made and how it sat away in some vase. Once added to dishes, it's generally well hidden, so it's not even something as visceral as moldy cheese. It's our siblings in SEA that work with some stranger stuff.

But as daunting as these food challenges are, they are still not the final boss. That final boss is called Delhi Belly, and he lives in India. If you can defeat him, and you can survive any foods on this planet.

I just saw this movie on HBO Max. I think there were four Asians in the cast. Two of them were killed for being Chinese. The movie wasn't as jingoistic as you'd expect. The sides weren't even defined. You couldn't tell who were the bad guys from the good guys. I guess that was the point so that the audience wouldn't pick a side because it was more about the characters. The only action at the end played like a wannabe Call of Duty Modern Warfare battle at the White House.

Id argue that at least stuff like balut or bugs, blood, maggots are at least foods in the sense that they give nutrients and might have a taste that some part of population enjoys.

Whereas feces and urine are not food at all but waste materials. Even distant human ancestors that lived in trees and ate raw insects did not eat dung...
