It's still bytedance algo that bytedance is not allow to sell. It will just allow bytedance to open up the gimped version of the code to us regulators or auditors to examine.

Tiktok can just claim they r using algo developed in US and thus no longer subject to Chinese laws then they become open to selling it off. I think they r preparing ground to sell it. 60% of Bytedance is owned by US investors. They r probably forcing Bytedance to do whatever it takes to sell Tiktok just to save their investment returns. Zhang Yiming is also widely known as too pro-US

American mouthpiece have today published 2 articles claiming 2 different things about tiktok, the first being that they have offered a "kill switch" to USG, and the second being this bypassing export control article. Both have been said by tiktok itself to be misinformation.
To me this just looks like mafia tactics in order to demoralize the tiktok parent company, when their government knows that fighting an actual court battle will be difficult. Like the Italian mob knowing they can't outright fight with a restaurant owner, so they hire homeless to hang around outside, pay columnists to invent rumors about the staff etc.
I am impressed that they literally pulled an action that a backward third world dictator ship would pull off in the past when they didn’t know any better. Really all those accusations they throw at China and Russia and heck even Iran, are all actions that the USA seems to pull off on a regular basis. Seriously they must have lost their sense of dignity and intelligence after the Cold War to the extent that the decadence and hubris has piled up to the point where they simply don’t realize or even know what is required to run a nation, let alone a super power. These freaks are in terminal decline and nothing anyone can tell me will sway with otherwise
If paying hush money to a pornstar/prostitute was a crime that actually gets investigated evenly, rather than to target specific individuals only, then pretty much most of the men with net worth in the millions and up would be in prison. That's how much of a joke this whole thing is.
