As a football fan myself, I have never considered Messi an idol. Real football fans don't idolize football stars to the heavens. Because these guys come and go. They have a playing career that spans around 20 years at best, most of the time, its less than that. After that, we would look for the next superstar to carry our beloved football team to glory. Messi is truly one of the best footballers of his generation, but his footballer career is already coming to a close. I will never pay $5000 to watch a once-great footballer play a non-competitive game of football. That is already a scam on its own. Those who did that were either Messi-worshippers, hardcore Barca-fans, or just casual football fans who don't know what they are paying for.

Messi is not universally beloved among true football fans. Because he plays for FC Barcelona for most of his career, and FC Barcelona have many rivals and haters. Go ask the Real Madrid fans and other rival La Liga fans if they could ever worship him. Never, they would rather spit on his name than worship him.

Football today is so heavily politicized, that it has become a new propaganda arm for the West. We have witnessed: BLM, LGBTQ, Israeli flag waving (prior to the 2023 Gaza War), banning of Palestinian flags, Mesut Ozil's support for ETIM's "Uighur Genocide" propaganda, banning of Russia from UEFA but not for Ukraine, forced expulsion of Russian billionaires from football business, and now with Messi sulking in HK. I love football, but it is also time to call it out.

Another disgusting thing that is happening is all that money being thrown around in this sport. Sometimes, the money that is spent to buy a superstar today could buy us an entire stadium. There are football players earning up to more than 1M Euros per week. Sponsors and media are throwing hundreds of millions around like candy. And the average football fans are getting milked for money like never before. Such as that $5000 Messi-no-show game in HK. This is madness, spending all that money on a sport where a bunch of guys are kicking a ball around.

Only Argentinian football star I idolize is this guy.

not sure if Intel Foundry is actually going to be successful or if it's just in house chips. Is any major client using Intel Foundry? It's very different to run an IDM vs. running a foundry.
Do not count on it. This is not the first time Intel tried its hand at the Foundry business. They really, really suck at it.
Their processes are highly tuned to make CPUs, fast switching transistors that gobble power, and they won't support you or your project properly. Good luck getting support for something they did not design in house.
Intel ended up buying Altera (FPGA company) as a way to keep fab utilization up. But I think even Altera is making their best chips at TSMC.

AMD, when it still had its fabs, was much better at this foundry business than Intel. For a long time AMD had issues selling their own processors, so they ended up acting as a fab for other companies quite often to keep their facilities operational and pay back the cost of tools. AMD optimized their processes to handle different designs, with different chips in the same wafer, much better than Intel ever did. Which is why Globalfoundries ended up even being possible as a foundry business in the first place. Even then as you should well know Globalfoundries still play second fiddle to the Taiwanese foundry companies.

"leading to an inevitable societal collapse"

What's the POINT OF YOU POSTING THIS GARBAGE and common anti-China cope videos that are a dime a dozen essentially parroting the points from anti-China illuminaries like Gordon Chang, Falun Gong Army, Taiwanese separatists, Indians, Peter Zeihan, and from our own sub members found on Chinese economics thread?

The self-described geopolitical genius derive his analysis from two ultimate sources of ultimate insight: Strategy games and dramatic play. WTF.

I disagree. The anglos were already facing large scale anti-colonialism efforts from multiple colonies during that time. The Sino-Soviet Split was already underway and the global embargo on China didn't end until 1972. Nixon would still need to court China in order to put pressure on the Soviets. HK meant nothing to them at that time.

The Brits lacked the means, while the Yankees lacked the will to resist a PLA liberation.
I've said it before and I'll say it again, I'm fearful for the next generation of Chinese leadership. The strength that China has displayed in restraint has the collective west losing their minds and not knowing what to do. China hasn't fallen for their traps and has come out strong. Do not let them bait you into doing anything that will appear like China is the aggressor, time is on China's side!
