I think with this, we can't paint this as anything other than Hamas victory. However ceasefire negotiation with Israel turns out is secondary, Hamas and Gaza was on the verge of being sold out by Saudi lead Arab world and Hamas decided not to go gentle into that good nigh. Aqsa Flood and subsequent resistance against IDF proved to everyone that Hamas have some fight left in them still and worth keeping on the board at the cost of normalization with Israel.Good, the Saudi Arabia-Israel rapprochement may be dead finally - no ambiguity in the statement from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Saudi Arabia if the statement is genuine.
It draws comparison (no doubt intended by Hamas themselves) to Sadat launching the Yom Kippur War. Whatever your opinion of Sadat may be for his later actions he had the balls to launch a war to challenge fate, and it was only through this war that Egypt would eventually get Sinai Peninsula back.
