I thought the Houthi missiles are based on Iranian HQ-2? That means they're not true ASBM comparable to the ones in China, they're the same category as surface mode fired HQ-9, but more primitive.

No only some Iranian missiles trace their root to M-7 (the ballistic missile based on HQ-2), they also have entirely domestic lines of missile development too.
With this technological development will the heart land theory be the only one to survive and will the rimland theory end up in the trash bin of history? When computation, optics and AI models for object recognition proliferate, naval power will have a really hard time..

Beyond that, how nice would it be if the PLAAF can also have an airbase/airfield in the region. Could station a couple maritime patrol/ELINT/SIGINT UAVs to conduct intel gathering as well.
In the meantime, in case there are obvious indications that things are going really bad and out of control in West Asia due to the present conflict, someone in Beijing better be prepared to dispatch a naval task force (centered around one LHD and/or LPD with DDG + FFG escorts) to the region and conduct evacuations of Chinese nationals there.
