That raises the question: why is this missile called HD-1A? Is this yet another naming mistake? With such obvious differences, I would not expect the weight to be the same either. Could very well be lighter than given it has only half the inlets.

This is the brochure that you posted, with a description of HD-1A. As is visible, it has 4 air intakes ,just like the ground launch version:


Then there is this one, with a caption saying it is the HD-1A, even though it is written HD-1 on the missile. It looks like the ground vehicle launch version but without a booster. Unclear what platform is supposed to launch it?

Compare to the same missile with the booster:


Finally, we have the new missile Deino posted, labeled as HD-1A, but quite different in look from HD-1. Only two air intakes, that have a visibly different shape and length compared to HD-1. Also, the rear fins are arranged differently compared to HD-1. Therefore, either the brochure is wrong or this missile is mislabeled?


It looks more similar to the French ASMP-A missile, than to HD-1:

The air-launched HD-1A had never been publicly unveiled in either actual images or mockups until this Zhuhai show.

I saw the data sheet for this missile in the background of one of the photos. Do we have a close-up photo?
