No wonder some US DoD sources state that the HQ-9B (in service with the PLA) has a range of nearly 300km. Combined with AESA radar, that is an extremely powerful system (surpassed only by S-400's 40N6 and even out-stick the SM-6).

While this is almost certainly range against cooperative, slow targets and not alerted fighter jets, it's still a huge figure. Given that the HQ-9 missiles are slightly smaller than the missiles for S-300/400 this is basically utilization of tech level in between the Russian 48N6DM (250 km range) and 40N6 (400 km range)
