The incomplete calculation of total of military helicopters in PLA Airforce, Navy and Army has at least 1,100 helicopters according to the out-dated wikipedia. The actual number could be higher.
damn the Z20 has an impressive carring capacity , it make more sense to me now why the new attack helicopter is based off Z20Z-20J rare frontal view.
8 ATGMs is not impressive. But 16 ATGMs + 2 PL-90s + armor + extra gadgets at high altitudes would be impressive. I think that is why PLA upgraded to Z-21 from Z-10 TBH.

the only reason AH-64 carries 16 x Hellfire Missiles is because they fight a poor people who have no defence so the more they carry more they can fire, their enemies don't have air defence so Apaches don't need too run or even manoeuvre just hover and fire
I agree the more firepower they cary the better but Chinese have not attacked any poor nation to show how strong they are
they are going up against the combined forces of the pretty much the Entire Hemisphere so are doing things in accordance with their needs
also Z10 is Chinas first attempt at a attack helicopter
Z-21 will be heavy amour , high flying and can carry a heavy load a true 10+ toner with powerful Chinese turboshafts
No, the reason AH-64 can carry 16 Hellfires is because it was designed to carry 16 Hellfires. The AH-64 was conceived of and created in the anvil of the Cold War where massed Soviet armor blitzes across Europe were a real threat. Nowadays this is much less of a possibility, though the capability to do so if needed is surely a design parameter for the Z-21.
