I'll cop to some ignorance of what naval helicopters do, but what are some important roles the Z-20 can fulfill without a large sea-search radar?

Transport helicopter for type 075 and 071 amphibious assault ships. Transporting men and materials from sea to land during amphibious operations. Other roles will be search and rescue, ship to ship transfer of men and material.
