Do we know how many Z10ME Pakistan ordered?
Numbers are undisclosed till date, but general consensus is it should be +30 since PAA went for Z10ME as an alternate of T-129s post US denial of engines (PAA ordered 30 T-129s).
Pakistan may be looking to swap the T-129 with the Z-10ME, but it also has to find a replacement for the AH-1Z Viper order which was also suspended by the US at 12 units.
Aren't they gonna make an effort to get those? Last I heard their order wasn't canceled or else we'd have seen them giving to the Marines or something
What is the point given Pakistan has better options now with China and better funding models also from China?
The AH-1Zs were meant to be paid from coalition support funds, but since that has cancelled, no one in Pakistan wants to spend real money on new procurements given they can be sanctioned for any reason.
As mentioned previously, the exact number of Z-10ME units hasn't been disclosed; however, general assumption is it's in between 30 - 40 units. Furthermore, it was not 12 but rather 15 AH-1Z units that were produced for the PAA.
There is chatter among defense circles that Pakistan is engaging with the Trump administration to secure the release of these 15 units, along with some additional refurbished units from older stock, under arrangements similar $686m F-16 framework (Coalition Support Fund).
If this option doesn't materialize then we might see these units operating in Marine colors.
