World's military budget

As I read it, he believe the US total air combat capability in terms of fighters, attack, and strike, only needs to be 900 aircraft total (F-15, F-22. F-35, and F-18). And those are his own numbers and feelings on the issue.

He also believes that the Russian numbers will be what he says (again, his own numbers) based them doing a "force up," with PAK-50 (PAKFA/SU-50).

That China will reach his numbers by "forcing up." with J-31, J-20, and J-10.

Clearly...the thinking is seriously flawed with respect to US numbers at the least.

If he was talking about 'wish list' then I say the US needs about 5000 operational combat aircraft! ;) to do the things that we need to do effectively and efficiently based on defence needs, our foreign policy and global commitments!

In an ideal scenerio, the USAF would need about 3000 operational combat aircraft, Navy + Marines about 2000.

Well, if we consider all of our aircraft...Fighters, Attack, Strike, Bombers, CAS, ELINT, AEWC, AWACS, Patrol, Cargo, etc., etc. I would say we are pretty close to those numbers.

I will do a run down on all of them later and see.

I was refering only to combat aircrafts ;)
If you count all others then I say we need probably close to 8,000 in all seriousness.

No F-35. Only sails outlands.

I'm sorry to say it but with the ability to seemingly READ posts and reply okay in some and brutally in others... I get a very trollish vibe. Apologies if I am wrong but it really comes across that way to me.

Although I feel a little stupid writing this, my impression is Silvestre believes the F-35 will only be sold abroad and not see service in the US armed forces. Which is probably a little outrageous, since AFAIK the US will eventually operate more F-35 than all the foreign customers combined. I may be way off with this actually, since I really don't have an educated clue right now. But then ...

There's going to be between 2.000 and 2.500 F-35 in the US eventually?
An then, a hundred or so in the UK? 60 in Italy perhaps around 40 in the Netherlands and Norway? At some point 100+ in Japan and Israel. 40 in Austrailia maybe?
That would be about 600 outside the US so far? Is there actually an up to date count on that topic?

The idea of 900 fighters / attackers in US service is just completely off, IMO. That would be a massive drop in capacity and capability.

No active forces.

Tornados are from 1970s and are third oldest jets after F-16 Falcon and F-15A.

Same like Mirage-2000 italiano jets come to world's.

germany has 85 tornados in service and these planes are all getting upgraded to assta 3 standard until 2018
