A bizarre ball of flame has been caught on camera flashing across the sky in remote Siberia. The extraordinary yellow flash can be seen blanketing the heavens over a road near Yekaterinburg - around 1,000 miles east of Moscow. So far Russian emergency services have refused to comment on the cause of the blast which was captured by a motorist's dashcam video.

A kingfisher makes the most of the chance to catch fish before winter closes in. Diving into the river at speeds of up to 70-miles-per-hour the fish this magnificent native-British bird feeds on do not stand a chance. Local postie and amateur wildlife photographer Rob Cross from Bideford in North Devon has spent hundreds of hours observing this much-loved bird from the banks of the River Torridge.

Wow! That’s a lot of whitecaps! Riding a kayak in those water would be like that open scene in the old “Victory at Sea” series.

A simply amazing catch in the NFL football game last night by the New York Giants Odell against the Dallas Cowboys (My Cowboys went on to win the game 31-18):

A very similar catch occurred last year by Detroit Lions Durham against the green Bay Packers...but he is not as contorted and used all five fingers while Odell did it with only three.

And I always really liked this New York Giants on the helmet catch by Tyree against Detroit in one of the Super Bowl game.

This beautiful photo seems to show two seasons in one picture. The picture was taken in the Arnastapi area of Iceland, where the Stapafell mountain can be seen to divide the picture into summer to winter. The photos were taken by Maciel Winiarczyk on a recent trip. He said he was 'very lucky to capture this as it only lasted a few moments.'

This is the moment a lucky seal escaped certain death - avoiding a great white shark's jaws by inches. The giant great white burst from the water only for the seal to bounce off the tip of its nose high into the air. On the way down, the hungry shark snapped, missing the airborne mammal by the smallest of margins. The incredible moment was captured by underwater photographer Sergio Riccardo, 51, who photographed the scene near Cape Town, South Africa.
