If this is true then the training paid off. I as a muslim, cannot comprehend to kill innocent people for revenge. This is so wrong!

thanks for standing up andy, and I fully concur with your assessment, men need to protect the innocents from evil in all its forms, why I remain very saddened by our own drone attacks, no more like disgusted! brat

Yes, this is an especially troubling development because up until now, most Chinese always thought that their Chinese passports would keep them safe in Pakistan because of the special relationship between China and Pakistan. With westerners already wary of security in Pakistan, China could have been the saviour of Pakistan's tourism industry had Chinese tourists flet they have nothing to fear of Taliban attacks in Pakistan, but now, no one will feel safe going to Pakistan, and that is going to be a devastating blow to the tourism industry.
Agreed 100%.

It just seems like an especially stupid and senseless act because all but one of the victims came from countries that have absolutely nothing to do with US drone strikes, and even the American murdered is in no way connected drone attacks.
Agreed completely.

I think with this attack, the Pakistan Taliban has crossed a line, and that China should no longer stand by and do nothing. I would not insult our Pakistani friends by suggesting that China send in special forces or conduct their own drone strikes, but a generous donation or loans to the Pakistani military of weapons and equipment especially well suited to counter insurgency fighting should be seriously considered. Things like recon drones, helicopters, NVGs, thermal imaging equipment, and body armour could be sent almost immidiately.
Well, the problem is, the US has tried this too. But there are many infiltrations of Pakistan's military and intelligence services by people loyal to, or aligned with, the extremists and so you see those weapons, that money, and that information being used to counter the very things you are trying to help the Pakistan forces who stand against the Taliban accomplish.

This is the principle reason why the raid to get bin Laden could not be shared with the Pakistan forces...it was not only feared, it was a pretty sure thing that if it had been shared, bin Laden would have been warned and gotten away.

Tough situation.

China does not want to stick its nose into other people's affairs, but it should be made clear that that principle does not extend as far as to cover the cold blooded targeted murder of Chinese nationals.
Understood completely...nor should it extend there.

surprised that you guys have not put this news on the thread. according to the Chinese media the tourist who escaped was a formal PLA scout/special forces.

The guys wast taken outside the camp with others in the middle of the night with his hands tied and forced to kneel in a line. They had their passports and other valuables taken before being shot. (I wonder why passports are taken unless it is used as a proof that the mission was completed) The guy managed to untie himself as one of the terrorists took his wrist watch off him. He ducked his head when gun shots are heard, and got a 5cm gash on his head from a narrowly missed bulled. He then tackled the guard closest to him and made a run for a clif about 30m away, making his path erratic. The abductors shot at him but missed because they were unable to aim with their rifles due to them having tied their shoes around their neck.

He jumped the clif which was about 30-40m drop, and gashed his legs in the process, then proceeded to hide in a crevass while they searched for him. He later creeped back to take clothings and comm. equipment since he wouldn't survive the cold night with what he had on.

Are you sure it was that high? I mean that's like 9 to 13 stories right there.

1 m = 3.28 feet (10 - 12 feet is your typical story height in a building).

So you have 30-40m (meters) = 98.4 feet - 131.2 feet / (10 - 12 feet) = 9.8 - 13.2 stories.

Dang that's quiet a fall and still survive?

That's what I remembered. Maybe there was a bit of a slope and he slide down.

And considering Pakistan having some major issues with their infrastructure(many are claiming the country is already in failed state index...), I think the issue will only get worse. And I do think Taliban influence within Pakistan isn't minor, but rather substantial and heavy.
