Okay SteelBird It's Time.. Every one gather round as TE explains the Predator pack.
First The unit you are displaying is Russian. It was created by a Russian Gun Enthusiast built around the PKM machine gun. Now is it practical? The US Army and Tyr Tactical think so.
Our Story starts in the Jungles of Vietnam. American Seal teams operating in the Swamps and Marsh and River delta's of South East Asia Seals being innovative Took the Ammo Cans and Chutes intended for Helicopter M60D's rigged them to a pack wich mated to there M60's a second version seems to have been develuped for the lighter AR10.

and among the versions Fast Forward to the 1980's and a Vietnam Vet writes a really fun B movie staring not one but Two Future disgraced Governors. In Said movie the Vet took and had his prop department rig up a identical ammo Carrier and mate it to the most ridiculous Choice of individual Firearm short of a Chain gun.
And from that point it only appears in movies and Video Games... until 2008 When A American tactical gear maker Tyr Tactical shows up on the Scene with a modern take on the idea. The call it the Mico
There version uses a modern pack frame and light weight materials. it can be adapted to 5.56NATO or 7.62 Nato
two years later a Unit of the US Army national Guard is deployed to the combat theater. In 45 days as a hobby using what ever they can scrounge unaware of the Existing system they rapid prototype a third version they call IronMan.

Then Came American TV. Red JAcket Firearms Sons Of Guns Season 4. A costomer came to them With a PKM and a dream request. they cut down the barrel, Cut down the gas system, fitted a folding stock and modified a Mico to pack PKM rounds

Given how seldom the Russian people get to see this themselves...perhaps that alone made it amazing to the person who authored it.Nice video...Jeff I know you are not the author of the title of than video ..but I did not see anything amazing.
I just thought there was some nice shots of some of their activities with their SU-33s...and whatever else may be said, the Russians have long since at least built up a respectable, though small, complete air wing for their carrier and they do exercise it on occasion.

I realize that the BTR-70 and 80 are not the most practical APCs in the world (side and top entry/exit) but they are a very impressive looking vehicle.
Interesting that the Russian stayed with this design and did not attempt a mid-engine and rear ramp design.

Well more like have not yet, Every thing indicates the Comming Russian Bumerang 8x8 will have a rear ramp.
