Thats the problem with Windows 10, it also will share your WiFi with contacts, you should disable it

Yes, but is it pretty straight forward to tell it not to share...or to disable it completey:

If you want to turn off the Wi-Fi Sense in Windows, you can do so within within settings. Here's how:

Click on the Start menu and hit “Settings.” Then click on “Wi-Fi” under “Network & Internet.” Click on “Manage Wi-Fi Settings.” There you will see options to connect to suggested open hotspots and connect to networks shared by your contacts. You can also select which networks that you want to share your password with, including Outlook, Skype and Facebook contacts. To completely disable Wi-Fi Sense, make sure to disable all of those options.

Completely disabling the share involves renaming your Wifi Network (SSID) name to include "_optout" and _nomap" in the name. For example, if your name is "Home_Network," then login in to your router and change it to be "Home_Network_optout_nomap". This will tell windows to not use the feature at all.

Having trying and using many freeware antiviruses in the past, Micro$oft $ecurity E$$ential is my most favorite. In case your PC is infected by adware that MSE can't help, AdwareCleaner is my favorite tool to remove adware.

Lol. It's Essentials with an "s". And you forgot to change the "S" in MSE.

Also, isn't it irritating to have to change all the "S" letters for the sake of an ancient and outdated 90's joke?

I just upgraded to win 10, and ran into a pretty big problem.

First, it couldn't detect my monitor's default resolution and went to 1024x768. Not a big deal to change, but it took me a few minutes to figure out how to change it with the win 10 interface.

Next, the big issue. My desktop uses a usb wireless adapter to connect to wifi. Upgrading completely screwed it and I couldn't connect to the internet anymore. It took me a while to figure out how to open the "control panel" and see the list of devices. Under the adapter, it said: "could not complete setup, need to connect to the internet". o_O

I had to dig up the setup cd for the adapter to finally get it to work. If I hadn't been able to find that, I would have been screwed. This is a pretty big showstopper, IMO.

WRT the resolution, the thing to do would be:
Start > type "Resol", and the search would have surfaced the setting to change the screen resolution. Hope that helps in the future.

WOW...but it seems you were able to correct it.

Sounds like the Setup CD for that adaptor may have had some tools or files on it to help you that Windws 10 was unaware of.

Glad you resolved those issues.

Guys, you don't have to wait for your copy to arrive. You can download the installation program from M$ now:

Remember not to choose "express settings" during the installation process and turn off everything in the custom settings

Jeff, buy a small SSD and install win 10 on it. Put all your data on the HDD. This way you will not lose your data if you have to format the OS drive, plus the performance of SSD is lightyears ahead of HDD

Update to my work PC issues:
Now, seems that the Win10 messed up a bit of my security settings and now I've to free it up...still, while other PCs in the workgroup can now see my shared folder's list in its updated version, 1st-time connect requires username and password...fortunately it can be set to remember, Win7 and Vista tested.
