TORONTO – Two female passengers are facing multiple charges after a Sunwing Airlines flight to Cuba was escorted back to Toronto Pearson International Airport by two CF-18 fighter jets Wednesday night.

Peel Regional Police arrested 25-year-old Lilia Ratmanski from Whitby and 26-year-old Milana Muzikante from Vaughan when Sunwing Flight 656 diverted back to Toronto following a disruption on board.

In an email to Global News, a Sunwing spokesperson said the two passengers had allegedly “consumed a significant quantity of their duty-free alcohol purchase in the lavatory and lit a cigarette.”

The spokesperson also said the two allegedly triggered the smoke alarm, got into a physical altercation with each other, and made a “non-credible” threat against the plane.

Concerned over their actions, the pilot decided to return to Toronto mid-flight.

How 'Popeye' became Pablo Escobar's favourite hitman

John Jairo Velásquez Vásquez, who walked free from a Colombian prison on Tuesday night, initially wanted to be a policeman. But he ended up working for the world's richest drugs lord, and ordering the murder of 3,000 politicians, journalists, rival narcotraffickers and unfortunate civilians

Nope not me.. I quit smokin' weed back in '81.

For a moment, I thought it was another knee protector incident.

It's getting pretty ridiculous. Those women were being idiots, but they were obviously not threats. It's getting to the point that airlines are no longer capable of resolving customer issues without resorting to scrambling fighter jets!

High school baseball championship sets record for longest game: 50 innings and four days

TOKYO —Nanshiki baseball is a variation of the sport unique to Japan where the game is played with a rubber ball rather than the typical hardball or softball. Although it’s not nearly as popular as the other sports, the competition can be fierce especially among the younger players. One example of this can be found in the 59th National High School Nanshiki Baseball Championships semifinals wherein one game turned into a 50-inning and four-day long test of endurance. And as if that wasn’t enough, the winner of that game had to proceed to the final round only a few hours after finishing.

■ The first 30 innings

The game was between Chukyo of Gifu Prefecture with Matsui pitching and Sotoku from Hiroshima Prefecture who had Ishioka on the mound. Both pitchers threw for the entire 50 innings. By the end of the 45th inning, the pair had thrown a combined 1,252 pitches to 225 batters.....to read more

What is more crazy is that this was the semi-finals and the winner played the finals on the same day.
Talk about a marathon game! !

Now that is amazing! I can see a ton of application for advancements in brain-computer interface. No more need for texting or keyboards, just think your commands. I predict the next revolution in mobile computing will be something like google glasses making use of this kind of technology.
