I am happy as long as they didn't say that a mainland construction company was responsible for the shoddy construction.

It may have been a older building,constructed to the building code of the time.Reports indicate the epicentre was shallow at 10k/miles? underground.Would that have resulted in a greater destructive force?

I wouldn't be surprised if that argument was made because anything can be spun. Yeah Mainland Chinese put a gun to their heads and told them to use Japanese paint and oil cans as construction material. And don't be surprised in the future people will use this photo saying it was taken in China.

There's a difference between construction companies violating building codes and the same companies conforming to the codes, but were shipped inferior material from Chinese steel manufacturers that "passed" their own quality control. An example of that is The Oakland Bay Bridge building inspectors discovered some of the so-called quality steel from Chinese manufacturers didn't meet specs.

From Taiwan news reports, it look as if the building companies willfully violated building codes, and I'm sure the authorities will get to the bottom of it, as they collect more information and evidence.

It was taken in China, just not the part that Xi was responsible for in 2016.
