F-16 Fighting Falcons line up to be refueled by a KC-10 Extender from the 908th Expeditionary Air Refueling Squadron over Afghanistan during Operation Enduring Freedom air refueling operations in February 2010. The air refueling capability of the KC-10 in combat operations allows fighters to provide close-air support for "troops in contact" in Afghanistan and other areas of operations. The 908th EARS is part of the 380th Air Expeditionary Wing which supports operations Iraqi Freedom and Enduring Freedom and the Combined Joint Task Force-Horn of Africa. In 2009, KC-10s from the 380th AEW and the 908th EARS flew 4,760 combat sorties offl-loading 422,222,300 pounds of fuel to 31,434 aircraft. In the same year, the KC-10s and their crews accumulated 40,011 hours of flight time.

ELMENDORF AIR FORCE BASE, Alaska (Mar. 29, 2010) - A F-15 Eagle peels off of a four-jet formation as it prepares to land at Elmendorf Air Force Base, Alaska. Elmendorf’s 19th Fighter Squadron will soon be decommissioned with the first F-15s leaving in April 2010 and the final few scheduled to leave in September 2010. Some of the jets returned from more than a month-long temporary duty assignment. Four jets from the 19th Fighter Squadron participated in Thailand’s exercise Cope Tiger. After departing Thailand, they flew to Kadena Air Base where they rested for two days and flew out to meet up with four other Elmendorf F-15s, that participated in Cope Thaw in Hawaii.
