A Marine from L/3/5/ 31st Marine Expeditionary Unit uses the Multiple Integrated Laser Engagement System during a simulated force on force military operations on urban terrain. Lima Company, home ported in Camp Pendleton, Calif., is participating in Exercise Key Resolve/Foal Eagle 2009, which is an annual joint exercise involving forces from both the United States and the Republic of Korea.

Maj. Joseph Bachmann, a developmental test pilot for the F-35 Lightning II, takes off in an F-35 AA-1 March 19 from the runway at the Lockheed Martin Aeronautics plant here. Bachmann was the first Marine to fly the aircraft and has been training to fly the multirole, stealth-capable, supersonic joint strike fighter aircraft for more than two years. The Marine Corps will field the F-35B variant of the aircraft, which is short take-off and vertical landing capable.

That is a GREAT picture of the US and ROKN forces sailing in formation...particularly with the KDX-III Sejongdaewang, DDG-991 sailing with our carrier strike group.

That vessel is the most potently armed AEGIS (or any other for that matter) DDG afloat and would be a comfort to have included in any task force.

The ROKN is well along...in fact I think it is already launched...with their second in class and will be building a third. Magnificent and powerful warships.

The ROKN is doing well. I'd like to see operations with their LPX the Dokdo and an USN amphibous force.
