Two things though: Why do they never give the Medal of Honor to soldiers that are still alive? It seems like it is only awarded posthumously. Secondly I'm getting tired of the US military using the phrase "terroist/criminal elements". It's so Orwellian. I'd like to at least know who we're fighting.

Unfortunatley most Medal of Honor awardees are deceased. No one living has been awared the "MOH" since the Vietnam war.

Yeah that's just no good from a propaganda standpoint. You need to have some living war heroes that can be interviewed on the news. I don't want to cheapen the value of a MOH by saying that, those guys are real heroes and incredible soldiers, but the publicity value is part of the reason for the MOH.

Exactly..The MOH, Sliver Star, Navy Cross etc are actually earned and not given away...The same with all other personal awards the US Military bestows..In most cases...
