Good maybe when block 4 this year is starting to bring what a F-35 is supposed to be able to do. Before that, most combat capabilities were very bad... block 1 and 2 had structural problems and restrictions. Birds are total hangar queens.
Blk 2B was combat capable. The most crucial weapons (AIM-120, JDAMs, Paveways) were ready roughly around 2015-2017. Crucially, this was when F-35s finally started entering in large numbers as a credibly 5th gen platform.
From what I understand, a $12.4 billion contract has been signed for the construction of two Virginia-class nuclear submarines. The contract includes additional options that could bring the total value to as much as $17.2 billion, as disclosed by the company.
The additional options include significant investments in shipyard modernization and workforce support, including wage increases for those involved in the production of nuclear-powered vessels.
