The $4M limited quantity missile has much greater range than the F/A-18s organic sensors so will need an extended "kill web architecture" to justify its expense. So rather than shooting the archer or the arrow the likely response will be shooting the scouts, probably drones, with your drones. At which technology China is cheaper, faster and better including quantity which as Hughes and Tancredi have asserted, probably correctly for aircraft as well as ships,

I find Cdr Salamander a little annoying. Like right on the front page you have the prerequisite anti diversity article. These people always harp on about the same things. Feels like he is an old man yelling at clouds.
Yes the whole crew are old men yelling at clouds. Kinda sad actually. But some of the articles provide useful information on what's happening in defense acquisitions (my special interest) and operations policies.

the quickest solution would be to turn to Japan and S.Korea to build their naval ships. yes, it's a humiliation, but sometimes you gotta sacrifice your dignity..
It will never happen, just like how Russia will never buy ships from China.

Superpowers or even regional powers build their own warships. It's a sign of prestige. The most that might happen is maintenance of US ships but even that has its pitfalls since it takes work from US yards. US has a bunch of yards that were scuttled after Reagan. Congress would rather spend money to open them back up than send ships to Korea or Japan.

What now? lol. So, as they decouple, everything is going to get even more expensive. They already had to cancel the 6th gen program because they could'nt afford what they envisioned to be the counter for Anti-access/Area-denial strategy of China. Now its back to the drawing board. This whole 'pump money out of thin air' and inflating the value of the real economy by re-branding and re-monetizing financial products as value creation (artificial) is slowly starting to catch up.
They haven't cancelled the 6th gen program. It's just being slowed but they are working on it.
