The goal of the three-day visit to Beijing and Nanjing is to continue a results-oriented, risk reduction focused dialog between the two militaries.

"I am looking forward to this trip," said Richardson. “A routine exchange of views is essential, especially in times of friction, in order to reduce risk and avoid miscalculation. Honest and frank dialogue can improve the relationship in constructive ways, help explore areas where we share common interests, and reduce risk while we work through our differences."

, GPS III is now in the hands of ground control crews at Lockheed Martin who are maneuvering the GPS satellite into its final orbit, a task that will be wrap up sometime next week.

The GPS III has a high-gain directional antenna. Most GPS signals are broadcast on a wide antenna so it can cover the largest amount of area below. But this directional antenna aims signals in a spot beam, covering an area just 120 miles in diameter but blasting the signal at high power. That should be enough to counter jamming and get navigation signals to the weapons and vehicles that need it.

This situation was reprehensible. Simply reprehensible. This all boils down to extremely poor leadership aboard Fitzgerald.

Yes it is extremely poor seamanship, worse yet the poor condition of the vessel and navigation aids reflect on a very discouraging lack of maintenance and fleet support.... Obviously very poor leadership from the Captain to the XO to the Chief of the Boat...

I would remind that this mirrors the very poor availability of Hornets and Super Hornets in the air wings aboard ship and ashore, a direct result of very heavy budget cutting, further exaserbated by sequestration.... in other words lots of broken and inop equipment in a very heavily traveled sea lane in the deep dark of night...

News about B-1 radar upgrades. Peplaced the original radar with one with tech derived from the F-16 radar but with more T/R elements.



Plus other ongoing electronics upgrades from the IBS package. Like glass cockpit and Link-16.
