In the rendering, the FAXX appears to have vertical tails, while the F47 seems to have canards...

Would not be surprising if it had.

And overall, i would even say that the US MIC has thrown in the towel when it comes to doing completely tailless and canardless 6th gen fighter.

Which would not be surprising considering how much the US has been bleeding human capital and talent from STEM and the MIC industry to finance and other industries.

In the rendered images, does the F-47 have vertical tails?

Thats the F/A-XX and protrusion in the first pic probably comes from folded wings while the second picture doesn't even show the same aircraft.

I'm pretty sure the only official picture is the first one with top intake and folded wings

The jet is similar to the French concept, top intake is a distraction trick - look we are so advance that none can make sense of.
