"They (China) have got three generation-6 airplanes"

Since when did China have three 6th-gen warplanes?
Well, we now track development of 4 in fact, if we consider the VTOL one.
Calling bombers by the fighter gen nomenclature was dumb.
i'd say you always could do that - bombers apply same general tech as fighters; some solutions come later, some well ahead (but generally within same gen).
It's just meaningless, as bomber project numbers are too low to even bother.

The third one is the balloon that F-22s struggled long and hard to shoot down. All joking aside, I think they play fast and loose with their numbers to push their political angle most advantageously. Saying China has 3 forces the US to at least go for 2. I hope they go for even more at the same time. One for each branch of service, including coast guard, army, marines, and space force. Actually, I hope they go even further. Secret service, ICE, and CIA should each have their own unique 6th Gen fighters too.

While they're at it, they should simultaneously fund a 7th Gen fighter immediately to the tune of 1 trillion dollars per year for the next 5 years. That's how you win.

I'd be more cautiously reserved with that VTOL assertion, since:
1. We don't have any solid evidence of a manned VTOL fighter being actually in development and is to be procured by the PLANMC in the future, so far;
2. The propulsion layout of the VTOL engine system design publicly available so far is largely similar to the F-35B's system, hence some degrees of reservations on the capabilities of the alleged VTOL fighter (if it is actually real and WIP) when compared to the J-36 and J-XDS should be held; and
3. Where is that #3 6th-gen warplane, if at all?
