The competition likely came down to more so to design and USAF thought Boeing had the better one. Boeing's also been in the program since the beginning and there hasn't really been news of them falling behind in the stages up till now and they've made a lot capital investments into mfg facilities for combat aircraft in the mean time. Im in wait and see mode tbh

I have a different take on why they won, its because if they didn't Boeing would be out of the fighter/bomber business for a while and they don't want to let LockMart to monopolize the market. Doesn't hurt that they're the only other manufacturer with nice factories producing nothing.

To make the matters worse there is now speculation that NGAD has dihedral canards…

Now the hope is the losers here slowly start revealing details about their proposals/designs. Shouldn't be too long before we can piece together the broad requirements for the program.

Thats definitely the biggest reason most likely. Boeing needs something to claw back its losses with... but on the program side I dont think its that big of a deal

Looks quite similar to the Bird of Prey demonstrator with the canted wings. In fact I would not be surprised if the final article looks like a fleshed out Bird of Prey. Its Boeing's only full fat stealth demonstrator that we know of.

Boeing had a 7% jump on the 19th of march, 161 to 172 in a day, with no positive news whatsoever on that day. And this is a stock that has become quite toxic over the last 5 years. Insider trading is never wrong.

Was that a Nancy Pelosi or an inverse Jim Cramer trade, though?
