It is quite unfortunate that Ukraine either do not have wise leadership or the leaders were simply puppets for local or foreign powers. They did not have to go down this path. There were many other choices since independence that would lead to a much better outcome for Ukraine.

I don't think it was so much they were foreign puppets as they have been part of the endemic, pervasive problem of corruption. Whether Yanukovich, Yuschenko or Timoshenko, I swear I could hear the words 'bribe me harder, baby' any time I saw them.

Whether Zelenskyy fits that, IDK. Even if he doesn't, it's far, far too late to have stopped what's coming (in retrospect).

I actually agree that was the case until recent times. Emphasis on was.
China doesn't need such a massive military build up just for trade.
Neither saber rattling.
LOL You don't need a huge military for trade but you do need a huge military if you have old territories you need to reclaim, new ones you need to defend, and you also don't want to be susceptible to military instigation/escalation/blackmail by the resident superpower who's desperate to keep his spot amidst your rise. You think America would ever just watch its own edge get cut away without exploring every avenue of stopping it? If the US never went around the world (or Asia) starting shit, China wouldn't need a massive military buildup.

No, just for their core issues in their own backyard like most countries will do when another power come close to stir the waters. They are arming themselves because the U.S. is forcing them to do so. But unless the mayor shift in the paradigm of the Chinese thinking i dont think no one will Chinese missiles in Central America, unless one of those countries bought them and that is subject to the MTCR.

Lots of chest thumping in this thread now, so lets get real:

(Forecasted 2022)

PRC: GDP 16700 Billion USD
North Korea: 19 Billion USD
Russia: 1480 Billion USD
Pakistan: 280 Billion USD
Iran : 270 Billion USD

In total: 18749 Billion USD
(practically China all by itself)

*Pakistan makes India highly unlikely otherwise add GDP 3250 billion USD

USA: GDP 22790 Billion USD
EU: GDP 18350 Billion USD
Japan: GDP 5500 Billion USD
UK: GDP 3200 Billion USD
Australia: GDP 1450 Billion USD
Canada: GDP 1740 Billion USD
South Korea: GDP 1710 Billion USD
Turkey: GDP 690 Billion USD

In total: GDP 55430 Billion USD
where did you get that information? half of it is outright wrong.

So you are missing 1 trillion in nominal value from Russia + Iran alone.

And even for IMF they didn't update China's statistics, which have already exceeded $18 trillion nominal. This number is highly cited even by extremely anti-Chinese countries like Japan and India.

All report the same true number: $18.4 trillion

And for EU you overestimated by $3 trillion also because you likely didn't get the most updated information. Their true GDP is a highly cited statistic.

$15 trillion

I would prefer to totally but gradually sever all our links from the Europeans, Australians and North-Americans (they go their way, we go our way, without that we disturb each other: they have a missionary zeal and want to convert all peoples to one economic model) and only have connections with the Global South peoples but impossible. Even when we were living in splendid solitude they were harassing us at gunpoint to import their drugs for hundred years. These days we are harrassed by the US, EU, Australia, Canada and Japan. This leave us zero choice but to quitely root and align with Russia no matter the damage done to Ukraine.

I agree that corruption was a big issue in Ukraine. Just a question from an outsider, how does corruption translate into anti-Russian movement?

Lt. Gen. Mark Hertling of US 7th Army delivers a damning assessment of Russia's military strategy in Ukraine. According to him, Russian military strategy has failed to meet almost all of the basic 9 principles of war: objective, offensive, mass, economy of force, maneuver, unity of command, security, surprise, simplicity.

Already, there are signs the Russian troops are running out of food. Several US army people have questioned whether Russia has the manpower in Ukraine needed to control occupied territory and even more so whether they have the numbers necessary to take large urban areas like Kharkiv or Kyviv, if the defenders decide to make a stand.

Interesting to watch:
