Today, at least 21 NATO and Swedish ISR aircraft flew collection sorties over Europe: USN P-8As (2 PL09x, 4 PK09x, 4 PS09x); USAF RC-135W (JAKE11), RC-135V (HOMER31), E-8C (REDEYE6); US Army RC-12Xs (YANK01, YANK02), ARTEMIS (BRIO68);
RAF P-8As (STGRY01, STGRY02), RC-135W (RRR7219); Swedish S102B (SVF623); NATO RQ-4D (UAVGH000).
Despite the regularity of the P-8A flights in the eastern Mediterranean, this is the first time I have included them. I arrived at this decision due to the recent Turkish activity, as well as the recent Russian activities at the port of Tartus.
We see again the return of (six!) P-8A activities in the Norwegian Sea. This possibly relates to movements from the Russian Navy's Northern Fleet. A lack of MPA activity over the Black Sea is interesting, due to recent arrival of Russian vessels.
A NATO RQ-4D departed from Sigonella AB, IT, and stopped tracking over Poland, suggesting the beginning of her ISR patterns. She finally returned back to Sigonella ~40 minutes ago. A USAF RQ-4 from Sigonella left ~2 hours ago, for a Black Sea/Ukraine sortie.
