I think it's fair to say under the circumstances Ukrainian forces performed as well as could be expected.

Reportedly the Russians haven’t been operating any Mig29s and there is a surplus of footage of atleast one if not multiple Mig29s defending the area surrounding Kiev so there may be some truth to the myth.

Better than expected because half the people thought Ukraine's military will collapse aka Afghanistan.
But that was being too pessimistic.

The difference is it'll take 10x the effort to defeat the Ukrainians if they fight hard.

That video in particular has been referred to as a Russian jet not Ukranian although if true would be interesting. However the videos I’m mentioning have been taken today in the presence of Kiev, clearly engaged in a dog fight with a Russian plane in one instance.

Hopefully Russia's recon is top notch. If Russia has loads of Wing Loong 2 they can scan the whole place at night using thermal.

Ukraine in general is fighting fiercely. Some Ukrainian units on the Eastern front have given up and surrendered however.
