What will they do? Are civilians there? If not, chemical weapons would be an option in order to minimise troop losses and infrastructure/industry damage

"Donetsk People's Militia says that the port of Mariupol is fully secured now, resistance is limited to industrial zones - "there will be a decision on how to smoke them out".
Would it be a bad idea to use a crap ton of thermobaric bombs to saturate the area.

I think they want them in one piece, the NATO member in there, if they exist, are valuable asset.

That sounds like some tall order for the Russian, maybe they can try the stuff they used in Moscow theater hostage event and hope it doesn't kill the VIPs this time.... If I'm the Russian I'd just end the fight there asap, let whatever NATO guy get buried, however valuable they are they can't be worth the time now

One valuable lesson the Russian military should have learnt by now is not to give their guys overly complicated tasks.... The order for Russian troops should be simple like "Go to point A and kill everything there"

What kind of chemicals they are going to use in this situation? Tear gas?
I don't know. My guess is it would be lethal but in the most humane way possible. I don't think they have a large number of civilians there at hostage, they have also reportedly been studying the catacombs for months according to the below post.
