Why not war?

That should be more straigth.
They probably would if they could.
Like Russia's concerns over NATO getting closer and closer to its border, Poland now sees what it considers its biggest threat practically at the front door or more precisely three of them, Ukraine, Belarus and Kaliningrad.

I do remember when the Russian intervention in Syria started western media outlets were saying Russia was running out of missiles and that their navy was ineffective etc. Many months later they started crying when the rebels were getting their asses kicked. It’s the same type of playbook. In time the Russians will win. Once major cities in the east start falling and the Ukrainian eastern defenses started collapsing they will then change their tune.
The thing is they are hoping for a Afghan type insurgency. Problem is Ukraine is not a poor/undeveloped country its citizens have something to loose, The terrain is also different (Flat) outside of cities there aren't many places to hide and the entry points into Ukraine via EU can be policed by Russian. Russia has a experienced paramilitary in putting down revolts. And of course Ukraine/Russians aren't unfamiliar to each others language/culture/religion.

But the biggest thing is if Azov and other Nazi's " battalions" behave like they behaved in Mariupol and other places. Use civilians as shields and even executing them. Forget about any effective insurgency. That and probably even now there are a lot more people in Ukraine that would welcome Russians in a heartbeat but are to afraid in the moment to speak out. Russian troops talking with civilians in occupied/liberated areas indicated as such.

Yes, and it is the result of the actions of Poland.

I had talk of few Polish ,and the general consensus among them is the reason why Poland has issues in the 80s/90s/00s is because of Russia.

Things like " there wasn't enought toilet paper in Poland due to Russia".

Most probably for the Polish leadership it was easier to blame someone else than themselves .

" Prime Minister of Poland Mateusz Morawiecki proposed to the European Union to declare a complete trade blockade with Russia."
Clown. Since 2015 when these guys from PiS govern, they are destroying middle class in Poland.
60% of oil coming from Russia. 10$ for liter of gasoline would come? Maybe I should buy a horse.

It runs much deeper than lack of toilet paper though.
Poles and Russians have a lot of bad blood between them historically usually with Poles getting the very short end of the stick.
Poles also have a close connection to neighbouring Ukrainians. In that perspective it's fairly easy to understand their strong reactions and desire to use the biggest NATO / EU sticks available.

You could reduce Russia to a chunk of land in Siberia and the poles would still feel threatened.
