Donbass militia claimed success in Avdeevka. Perhaps that will stop the shelling of civilian areas in Donetsk.

US congressmen demand termination of cooperation with Ukraine

Member of the Foreign Affairs Committee of the US Congress Steve Stockman demanded the investigation of the facts of embezzlement of state funds by Ukrainian officials and statesmen. The document was forwarded to the Investigative Service of the Congress. The national bank of Ukraine, which had been ineffective in the placement of funds provided by the USA, became the main target of the congressmen’s concern. According to Stockman, the USA had already imposed sanctions against the former ministers and officials, total number of which is 18 persons.

He also claimed that Ukrainian officials withdrew the money transferred from Washington offshore, having used Ukrainian banks and the investment companies owned by Ukrainian officials. Altogether Ukrainian officials had distributed a bit more than a billion USD. The congressman claimed that the specialized Investigating Service of the Congress ought to consider the facts proving the real scale of corruption in Ukraine and revise the prospects of granting more funds. In his opinion, American tax payers should not bear the burden of Ukrainian problems. In April of 2014 the parliament of the USA agreed to grant Ukraine with a credit amounting to 1 bln USD at 1.8 per cent per year, which was the cheapest credit in the history of Ukraine.

Looks like the failure of the Minsk Accord has started with heads rolling of those Russians pushing for rapprochement with the west at the expense of the Donbass militia.

The drums of war are clearly beating on both sides now.

With Its Gold "Vaporized", A Furious Ukraine Turns On Its Central Bankers

As reported two weeks ago, following a stunning announcement by the head of Ukraine's central bank, Valeriya Gontareva, on primetime TV we learned that (virtually) all of Ukraine's gold was gone, or - in the parlance of Jon Corzine - had "vaporized."

And as we also predicted two weeks ago, it was only a matter of time before Ukraine's people - the vast majority of whom are innocent pawns in a vast game of realpolitik between the west and east - finally got angry and demanded some answers, if not heads. That time came earlier today when as Interfax.ua reported "a Kyiv-based court has instructed Kyiv prosecutors to bring an action against National Bank of Ukraine (NBU) Governor Valeriya Gontareva on charges of abuse of power or misuse of office to obtain illegal profit, the Vesti newspaper reported on Tuesday."

According to Interfax, "This decision was taken by Kyiv's Pechersk district court on December 1 after it had examined case No. 757/33660/14. It ordered the Kyiv prosecutor's office to launch an investigation and include it in the register of pre-trial investigations," the newspaper reported.

Gontareva is charged with abuse of power or misuse of office under Article 364 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine.

The plaintiff is lawyer Rostyslav Kravets, the newspaper said. He confirmed this information in his post on Facebook, saying that the decision was taken by the court at the third attempt, and in November 2014, the prosecutors declined to bring an action to meet his claim.

The charges against the chief banker involve foreign currency interventions by the Central Bank in August 2014: On August 5 the NBU bought U.S. dollars on the interbank forex market for UAH 11.93 per U.S. dollar and sold them for UAH 12.26 per U.S. dollar. During the same week, on August 8, it traded in foreign currency at a higher rate: UAH 12.45-12.6 per U.S. dollar. First it sold $69 million on the interbank forex market at a lower rate, and some days later it bought $35 million at a more favorable price.

As a result of these transactions, the NBU lost 19 kopecks per U.S. dollar, Kravets said.

Kravets claims that by acting so, Gontareva "has intentionally committed an extremely unfavorable transaction for the gold and forex reserves of Ukraine, despite the fact that under Ukraine's Constitution it is the Central Bank that is in charge of maintaining the country's gold reserves."

* * *
That, and of course, there is also that as a result of central bank "transactions" the Ukraine central bank is now essentially gold-free, which per Gontareva's recent appearance, has just 1% of total reserves in the form of the yellow metal.

And while it remains to be seen if this will be the spark that lights the counter-revolution (after all it took Egypt not less than a year to turn against the puppet regime dumped upon it by the CIA and the US State Department) others are already sensing which way the wind is blowing. As Bloomberg reported moments ago, another central banker, Olena Shcherbakova who is head of the monetary policy department at the Ukrainian central bank, said she is resigning. When reaced by phone she stated that she "has the right to step down," without giving reason for decision.

She sure does, although we doubt even a former Goldman Sachs partner would be willing to replace her, as the realization among the Ukraine people finally seeps through that they were thoroughly betrayed by the same people who promised they would fix the country following the February presidential coup.

Ukraine parliament votes in new government, fresh ceasefire hopes fade

KIEV (Reuters) - Ukraine's parliament voted in a new government on Tuesday, putting foreign technocrats in key financial roles and renewing terms for the foreign and defense ministers in a signal that no major change in policy is likely on the rebellious east.
Parliament endorsed Pavlo Klimkin as foreign minister and Stepan Poltorak as defense chief in the cabinet of Arseny Yatseniuk as shelling persisted in eastern Ukraine despite a fresh truce deal between government troops and pro-Russian separatists.
Kiev has been under international pressure to form a new government quickly to tackle Ukraine's near-bankrupt economy and the months-long separatist crisis after political parties favoring closer relations with the West scored a resounding victory in the October parliamentary election.
"2015 will be even more difficult than the current year," Yatseniuk told deputies ahead of the vote. "We are ready for the most radical, tough and effective reforms."
The new cabinet includes foreign technocrats in pivotal posts such as finance minister for Natalie Jaresko, a U.S. citizen, who has worked in Ukraine for more than 20 years after holding various economic positions in the U.S. State Department.
Ukraine has been offered billions of dollars in aid by international lenders if it carries out economic reform and President Petro Poroshenko said the administration would benefit from international specialist input.
The parliamentary vote did not pass without mishap.
The speaker had to call a second ballot after complaints from coalition members - a display of internal disagreement that bodes ill for the parliament's ability to thrust through the reforms it must deliver to ensure Ukraine gets more Western aid.
The other two foreign appointees to the cabinet were Lithuanian Aivaras Abromavicius, a partner in investment firm East Capital, and Georgian Aleksander Kvitashvili, who are now economy and health ministers, respectively.
Under Poroshenko and Yatseniuk, Kiev has cut aid to the eastern regions held by pro-Russian rebels since soon after protesters toppled Kiev's pro-Moscow president in February.
Fighting has continued despite a ceasefire agreed on Sept. 5. In the rebel stronghold of Donetsk a senior separatist figure said rival sides agreed a new local truce from 10.00 a.m. ET around the city airport.
"But this is 65th time we agree about this. I don't rule out that there is going to be 66th time," Andrei Purgin said. Sounds of fighting abated but did not stop. Kiev said rebels renewed attacks on the airport in the evening.
Russia acknowledges supporting the separatists but denies Western charges of being a party to the armed conflict.

There seems to be a shift happening.
Ukraine to close state offices, bank services in rebel-held east

By Alessandra Prentice and Pavel Polityuk
KIEV (Reuters) - Ukrainian President Petro Poroshenko issued several decrees on Saturday to shut state institutions and banking services in pro-Russian eastern regions, pressing a move to cut links with the rebel-held territory.
Ukraine has cut all state funding to separatist parts of Donetsk and Luhansk regions after separatists held elections in late October which Poroshenko condemned as illegal and in violation of a ceasefire agreement made in September.
The rebels, in turn, say Ukraine violated the deal by moving to revoke a law granting the regions autonomy, putting an already fragile ceasefire in doubt.
A decree posted on the president's website said all state companies, institutions and organizations should end their work within a week and "evacuate workers, with their permission, (and) where possible remove property and documents".
The ruling, which formally asks parliament to revoke the "special status" of the regions, also suggests Ukraine's central bank take measures to close down all banking services in certain parts of separatist-held areas, including card operations.
Ukraine accuses Russia of sending more soldiers and weapons to help rebels prepare for a new offensive and has cut off state funding to the war-shattered eastern regions as it refuses "to finance terrorists".
The Kremlin has repeatedly denied aiding the separatists, driving relations with Kiev to an all-time low.
A Reuters reporter saw an unidentified 40-vehicle column of military vehicles, including personnel carriers and artillery guns, traveling across separatist territory toward the rebel-held city of Luhansk on Saturday.
A Ukrainian military spokesman said seven soldiers had been killed in the past 24 hours, while the press service for the 'Donetsk People's Republic' said six civilians, including two children, were killed in shelling on Friday. More than 4,000 people have been killed in the conflict so far.
The presidential rulings, which are based on decisions made by Ukraine's Security Council, also require Ukrainian gas producers to supply all their output in the 2014-15 seasons to the population, rather than to industry.
Russia cut off gas supplies to Ukraine in June over a pricing dispute and while some flows may restart in the coming weeks after a EU-brokered agreement, Ukraine still needs to take steps to conserve its insufficient reserves for the winter.
Ukraine is also facing an electricity crisis as the conflict has disrupted coal supplies to thermal power plants, which provide around 40 percent of the country's electricity, and has left reserves critically low ahead of the cold winter months.
As a result of the latest decree, the energy ministry must now look into the possibility of buying electricity from Russia to help Ukraine shrink its gas consumption - a serious setback to the country's efforts to reduce energy dependence on Russia.

it looks like Donesk is going to get it's wish. Kiev is cutting it's ties. Imagine form here we will start to see a wall going up and a embargo from the west to the east. the soon to be Peoples Republic of New Russia will only have Russia as a way in and way out.

A Dutch producer of drones has offered to provide some to look for wreckage in grain and corn fields immediately after the crash of MH17. The investigating team said it was not interested. Other state organs didn't react. This according to an article on the website of my favorite radio station.
It is clear that a major purpose of the Dutch government has been, and still is, to waste time.
