The website of my favourite radio station says that a Dutch eight man team visits the MH17 crash site to receive from the mayors of the villages human remains, personal properties as well as aircraft parts that were found by the local people and collected by the mayors. Many of the Russian claims, if true, would be pretty damning of the investigation.
The failure to properly record, collect and retain missile parts is especially unforgivable, and would be in direct contradiction of common sense and the most basic investigation standards.

It is all about Kiev claiming that Russian aircraft crossing the border and attacking Ukrainian aircraft directly and includes a puff piece from Daniel Sandford about what an escalation this would be if true.
In short (and stated previously on these boards) With Kiev high command telling everybody (including its front line forces) that the Russian Airforce was attacking them directly, this would have been the day that pro Kiev forces switched on their full Air Defence capability in earnest.
The rebels also had AD weapons but they had been using them for weeks already.
The new comers were the Pro Kiev side and within hours an Airliner was downed.

So there you have it, the Kiev side were actively escalating the conflict. Also remember that the then Kiev Defence Minister was a certifiable lunatic that making more and more outrageous claims about Russia everyday, including that they used nukes at Luhanks Airport. He was booted out shortly after that statement.
