Prime Minister Liz Truss pledged in the September Defense Hearing a 3 percent increase to UK military spending, Chair of the Defence Select Committee Tobias Ellwood has commented that the UK should "double the size of the navy". He says the UK military needs "greater force presence" to be able to patrol the South China Seas on a "regular basis". He also touched on the reduction of F-35's, he would like to see the numbers reversed.
Tobia's expressed his dissatisfaction with AJAX and BOXER APC procurement in his own words about boxer is that "it's not tracked and hasn't got a big gun on the top and that changes how you do land warfare". He said the UK need to reconsider how they fight tank warfare with the threat of UAV's increasing on the modern day battle field.
Liz Truss merged the Armed Forces and Veteran Minister Roles. Tobias commented expressing "I don't understand why the two have been merged other than the fact we're loosing a minister of defense in a whole or that they're creating another role somewhere else".
