I love that concept piece. but I feel the need to point out that alot of it seems to be borrowed from The Zimwalt and Independence Classes. The Bow here and the Trimarian show both Zimwalt and Indipendence as a basis The mission bay in the aft of the ship is independence.

Well on the Subject of the Future lets see 2025

the British army recently started showing this concept of it's vision for 2025 infantry.
Now There are parts of this I like and parts I think really need to be questioned.
The Helmet system matches well with the US Army's Head Gear System
A ballistic helmet with mountable mandible and smart display. as well as previsions for CBN protection.
The Vest system is also very well thought out. One of the features they aim for is a Asymmetric cut, This is because with the conventional symmetric cut it's not always easy to shoulder a weapon. The British also aim to be used to mount a battery system, Radio system pouch and Ammo, first Aid vest with of course a hydration system. The British however seem to wish to use a "Dragon skin" Armor system which has a somewhat troubled history and the maker Pinnacle Armor is in chapter 11.

The Three Smart devices though are very practical a Smart watch, Smart device/radio and Smart Glasses. all of which are available off the shelf the key to these will be the software not the hardware. the Hardware is fairly easy it only needs to be rugged-ized for battle.
Now What I am not impressed with is the L85 mods. SA80 is in its A2 Configuration having undergone two rebuilds the original builder The Royal Small Arms Factory is long gone HK has rebuilt them but they are out of production and limited The British themselves have said that in 2025 they have to move on. now they do have some good ideas here. A digital weapons sight that feeds to the smart glasses. A modular battery in the weapon. I think they could follow Tracking point here but it would need to be on a new carbine.
About 80% of this is practical tech, it just needs a few steps to move into the prime time mission ready.

Royal Air Force Sea Kings end SAR duties

The Royal Air Force (RAF) ceased Search and Rescue (SAR) operations with its well known yellow Sea King helicopters this weekend, ending an impressive 74 years of continuous life-saving operations by RAF crews. The last operational mission was flown on 4 October by a crew at Chivenor airfield, transporting a 38 year old male to hospital. Shortly afterwards, the RAF crew and helicoopter were relieved of their duty. Bristow Helicopters has taken over the SAR responsibility.
Official statistic show that since 1983 and using mainly Sea King choppers, RAF crews of six SAR-units throughout the UK completed 34,025 callouts and rescued 26,853 persons in distress. Each unit maintained a 15-minutes readiness state during daylight hours and a 45-minutes readiness state during night time.
The Bristow Group in 2013 won a 10-year and 1.6 billion GBP contract to provide SAR coverage, starting this year. It will no longer be Yellow Sea Kings, but red and white Sikorsky S-92s and AgustaWestlands 189s saving lives in the UK.

That futuristic RN warship is pretty modernistic.

I would think you would want more than one of the Rail Guns though. That seems to be one of the main offensive weapons mounted on the ship, and you would like to have some duplication I would think for redundancy.

Sounds like the missile launchers are purely defensive, but they sound very fgood.

And the super cavitating torpedoes (hehehe right our of my Dragon's fury: World war Against America and the West books) are likely defensive in nature too...probably anti-torpedo torpedoes most likely.

The ability to have offensive oriented UCLASS type UAVs or VUAVs sounds cool, but only in a non contested air space. otherwise those aircraft would have a hard time getting through any CAP the enemy may have.

Still...very futuristic and very forward thinking.

This is the type of thing that technologies like the US is already deploying on the LCS and the Zumwalts will be taken up and advanced.

Royal Navy’s Diamond Gets New Gadgets
The new-look, souped-up HMS Diamond makes her way to sea for the first time since the summer of 2014.

Some 15 months of work by BAE Systems have gone into the third of the Royal Navy’s Type 45 destroyers in Portsmouth Naval Base to get the ship ready for her third operational deployment.

Since returning from a Gulf and Mediterranean deployment last year, during which she helped with the removal of chemical weapons from Syria, the ship has gone through a Capability Upgrade Period (CUP), basically beefing her up with the latest communication satellite systems, internal computers and weapons systems as well as Harpoon anti-ship missile system installed in distinctive launchers on the forecastle, just behind her Sea Viper silo.

The destroyer is now undergoing an intensive period of sea trials in the Channel proving her systems and allowing the ship’s company to get to grips with the new or enhanced kit.
