Re: 3D thrills for destroyer crews as HMS Dragon, HMS Dauntless & HMS Duncan join for

why would they be removed??

Because Perseus stealth supersonic cruise missiles will replace current Harpoon and Exocet anti ships missiles.

Perseus will be fitted on Type 45 and GCS.

No mention of Japanese weaponry?
Ship launch type 12 will be ready in 2017. Mitsubishi had signed a technological transfer agreement with MBDA and BAe so it should not be difficult to obtain them.

Are they planning Japanese SSMs or other weaponry for the Type 26 GCS?

I had not heard that to date.

British and American special forces in lightning mission to Mount Sinjar

  • US Marines and Special Forces flew in on black hawk helicopters days after Obama promised no boots on the ground
  • Also reported SAS soldiers were in the area to 'gather intelligence'
  • It is first confirmation that international forces were on Mount Sinjar
  • But the US Defense Secretary suggested that there are few refugees left there
  • Pentagon says Yazidis are in better condition than previously thought

No not that I am aware of it either but there are potentials since there are no road blocks prohibiting it and both BAe and MBDA has connections with Mitsubishi so they can just negotiate for a license to produce them at their own production facilities.
Same with Perseus, since Japan had already finished required flight tests for XASM-3 and is scheduled for production in 2016.
Japan already has the base model so MBDA can just start a joint development to modify it to extend range and be surface launched vertically since it is originally designed for air launch. Japan would modify it for surface launch once initial development is completed anyways like they did with type 80 ASM-1 into type 88 SSM-1 and type 90 SSM-1B. So it is a win-win for both.
