Turkish jet UAV ANKA-3 made its first flight. The ANKA-3 heavy UAV was developed in 2022 by Turkish Aerospace Industries. The ANKA-3 UAV can perform many tasks, such as control and communication relay, reconnaissance, surveillance, and destruction of ground and air targets. The drone can hit enemy helicopters, propeller-driven aircraft and UAVs with air-to-air ammunition; to destroy ground targets, including radar and air defense systems, the drone has air-to-ground ammunition. The drone can also use large ammunition such as SOM-J, MK-82 and miniature SDB bombs. The ANKA-3 UAV can rise to a height of up to 12,000 meters, with a payload of up to 1,200 kilograms

Speaking of which, why did the USN pick the wing-body-tail design of the MQ-25 as the aerial refueling UAV, instead of the flying-wing design of the X-47?

In the meantime, having U(C)AVs that can refuel other friendly U(C)AVs (whether as buddy tanker or specialized refueling tanker) is definitely a very crucial and significant capability step-up for U(C)AV operations across the board.
The flying-wing design does give a higher internal volume if the lengh and wing-span are the same. BUT a larger part of it's internal volume (compared to wing-body-tail) is in the wing. The wing is often highly swept. The fuel tanks are pockets inside the wings. When you draw the fuel, you move the center of mass in a highly unstable aircraft, you need to have a complicated system to move fuel from one pocket to another to keep the aircraft balanced. So it is not desirable to use a flying-wing design as a tanker.

, the indigenous engine for the Kaan has gone from R&D to the prototype production stage:

This is pretty much make or break for Turkey. Would be quite naive on part of Turkey to rely on their western allies for the engines given their track records. They should also be exploring other options because it will take a while to completely crack the indigenous engine situation.

EDIT: watched it again. Here are the relevant parts. (i used the translated captions on youtube):

Yesterday I was with Mr. Kotil.
He gave us information about the planes.
It is waiting for sunny weather (for the first flight).

Let me give this as New Year's good news for 2024.
This is the good news given by Mahmut (Aksit?).
Our own national engine is also going from R&D stage
to the prototype production stage

is he saying prototype production has started, or is about to start. I'm not sure @sequ?
Is it possible that he mixed up the TF-10000 with the Kaan engine? How credible is he @sequ?

He said he got information directly from Temel Kotil and Mahmut Akşit. "Turkish engine is about to finish, the aircraft will fly with the prototype engine within the year. Americans can take their F35's and use them as they like." (4:25 and afterwards.)

Confusing thing is this channel also hosts VoA and do not deviate a milimeter from official US policy. Voicing anti US sentiment with such bluntness and tactlessness is impossible in this TV channel. So I would take this with a grain of salt.

Thanks for clarifying. I know he spoke to Kotil and Aksit and they fed him information. But as I don't speak Turkish I wasn't really sure if the auto subs were correct.
