FIRTINA-II Self-Propelled Howitzers will be equipped with a power group consisting of a 1,200hp diesel AVDS Engine from L3Harris Company and an Allison Transmission product X1100™-5A4 Automatic Transmission. BMC Power (ASFAT AŞ) will undertake the integration responsibility of the said power group.
On the other hand, BMC Power continues to work on a cross-drive 1,000hp transmission and 1,000hp (UTKU, T-Drive) diesel engine for the UTKU Power Group, which was developed for use in tracked vehicles in the New Generation Light Armored Vehicle Project and recommended for FIRTINA Howitzers. The power group consisting of the 1,200hp diesel AVDS Engine from L3Harris Company and the X1100™-5A4 Automatic Transmission from Allison Transmission is also recommended as part of the modernization of the M60A3 Main Battle Tanks.
According to the data shared by the company, thanks to the new power group consisting of the VDS-1790-9A Diesel Engine and the X1100™-5A4 Automatic Transmission, the M60 AMT has improved 46% in acceleration, 36% in speed, 47% in top speed, and over 40% in climbing ability.
