Old news from October last year, but still relevant for the recent discussions about the engine and modern software tools for research and development:
Havelsan, a prominent name in developing software-based technologies for the defense industry, will use its knowledge and experience in supporting the engine design.
The simulation software technology owned by Havelsan will particularly be used in the engine project. Within the scope of the signed agreement, Havelsan will ensure the establishment of the design and test verification infrastructures of plant and control models and the development of computer-based design tools to meet the needs of TR Motor.
The defense company will also support the integrated digital twin-driven product design (DTPD) and development process of TR Motor.
The two parties will work together in operating and analyzing flight control system software and a simulator developed by Havelsan with the existing plant and engine model. (...) Dur noted that he believes “this cooperation will yield good results.”
Havelsan is also developing a digital twin of the TF-X/MMU:
HAVELSAN is making the digital twin of MMU. Engineering work will be shortened with this step. A new page opens in aviation.
The National Combat Aircraft Project is a very important project for Turkey. HAVELSAN carries out a critical work in the project, which continues under the leadership of Turkish Aerospace Industries. It makes the digital twin of the National Combat Aircraft.
In the new generation industrial design, digital engineering is done in all areas, not just the aviation industry. For example, it can reduce a 4-year design process to months. All tests are carried out in a digital environment.
For example, the 8 thousand hours of flight life of an aircraft can be tested digitally in a very short time. The design process is accelerated. It allows the projects to be implemented cost-effectively.
MMU IS A FIRST FOR THIS
The digital twin project is important for Turkey to act quickly on the National Combat Aircraft. Having a first in aviation, HAVELSAN is putting an important work in motion. The first presentation of the works as a halogram was exhibited at IDEF 2021 Fair.
National Combat Aircraft Director at HAVELSAN, Mehmet Altun, told Tolga Özbek how the digital twin of the project was brought to life:
