These people are idiots. There whole defense strategy document they just released deprioritized China and specifically made reference to countering them not confronting them. Outside of that, you have members of Congress pushing for a reconciliation package that would bring US defense spending to ~ $1.5 trillion or about 5% of GDP while members of the Executive talk about reducing commitments to NATO. Just total incompetence from Executive side of this administration.
