The statue pictured there is of Thomas Jefferson, who — aside from drafting the Declaration of Independence and serving as America's third president — is perhaps best remembered for raping his late wife's starting from when she was ~14 y/o while he was already ~44 y/o.
Granted, the relationship reportedly began while he was serving as the American minister to Paris.
Perhaps our current president will one day refer to the late Monsieur Jefferson as "his inspiration," now if only he was as eloquent.

I always found the ability for this bit of history to survive basically orally only for ~150 years fascinating.
