Nah. It's unfortunate but it's getting very clear at this point that Trump is an absolute coward and against wars to the extent possible. Waltz was ousted in large part because he was consistently too hawkish and constantly pushing for wars in a way that annoyed Trump. Hopefully the negotiations do still end up failing though.
The reason why I see war on the horizon is because for a number of reasons. One is the Iranians want a better deal than the JCPOA. Let us be real the JCPOA was a good deal for the US and Israel. And even then the US never held its side of the bargain under Obama. Then Trump tore it up and the Israelis never liked it. So the Iranians will never accept another JCPOA or one even harsher than it. Okay there is early indirect negotiations and there is some agreement but it’s still early. It took years to negotiate the JCPOA and it’s unrealistic that Trump would have the patience for a dragged out agreement that will let his whole administration. Before the JCPOA was finally approved there was many times at the last minute the negotiations almost collapsed. I remember following the talks back then. His cabinet lacks the tact and diplomacy to do that.
Also it doesn’t help when your stance is “if we don’t reach a deal we will bomb you.” It’s dumb diplomacy. You aren’t negotiating in good faith. And as we have seen with the tariffs fiasco Trump constantly changes his mind. He allowed Israel to break the Gaza ceasefire. He allows Israel to bomb Syria constantly. He has allowed Israel to occupy various positions in south Lebanon. He is now bombing Yemen. He is doing all of Israel’s bidding. And there is reason for that. He received lots of donor money from the Israeli lobby. You also add the deep influence Israel has on his administration. He has surrounded himself with lunatic Christian Zionist’s and neocons who salivate for war with Iran. It won’t be hard to convince him to bomb Iran. Walt’s wasn’t fired he was demoted. If he truly didn’t like neocons he would’ve fired Waltz and Rubio. But that’s not the case.
Also don’t forget the Israeli factor. They will
never accept a deal that’s similar to the JCPOA or more lenient on Iran. They have enough influence within the administration and the Congress to raise a stink about it. It’s likely the talks will reach an impasse and then breakdown. And the voices for war with Iran will be louder in the administration. They could stroke his ego by telling him he will be the first president with the courage to stand up to the Ayatollah’s. This is Trump we are talking about who likes people to strike his ego.
