This itself (what they voted on Thursday) was not a bill, but a procedural motion to determine whether to introduce the actual bill to the senate floor for a vote next week, which will pass if everyone votes the same as they did for this. But ultimately it's unlikely to become law as they would have to either get Trump's signature or super majority support.

Americans are the most 'marketed/pr/propagandized' group of people on earth (in my pov) so they are uniquely 'frog in slow cook pot' situation but this sorta thing is happening all over the world. in Europe, in asia in places.
Its just that the 'avg' living standard of people nowadays is soooo goooooood than the old days that they never feel truly inconvenience or threatened, so they barely march out against the people doing them wrong
Food is widely and easily and cheaply available, people are so focused on surviving about other things they dont have energy/time to realise they are being robbed and raped.
There is another way that involves lots of reeducation of the non compulsory variety of the current ruling elite…
