It‘s like a simcity game that you destroy after getting bored. Next, someone should spread rumours that 6th generation fighters are woke and we have to go back to F-14 like in Top Gun.

I think it's part of Trump and his followers' culture war. They have come to associate batteries, renewable energy, magnets, and electricity with Democrats and effete elitist tertiary educated bookworms. In their minds, they want "manly" "macho" tech which in their minds means black smoke spewing steam powered or mechanical/hydraulic stuff which they associate with being blue collar, durable, down to Earth. I think the reasoning really is as ludicrously childish as that. At a deeper more subconscious level, Trump gave it away with his reference to why not use something that was working 50 years ago. They are scared of change and are trying to resist it.

Delusional. The US will never give up containment or attempts to destroy potential hegemons.

They might recalibrate their approach, but the intention and willingness to subjugate their adversaries will never go away.

By the way, unlike what many people assume, the bipartisan establishment that runs the US has a very long memory, and they rarely forgive their enemies. Only complete subjugation to American foreign policy makes them get off your back.

It’s pretty sad for the Japanese, because they are either cannon fodders, or industrial slavery.

China does not yet have enough capital or currency power to take over USA as the industrial slave master. But China sure as hell can make sure Japan don’t exist if Japan ever threaten Chinese security.
Americans don’t give a rats ass if Japan cease to exist, they just want cheap stuff made so morbidly obese Americans can continue to enjoy their high standard of living.
