What happened to the principle of protected free speech???

Firstly, you need to be American to get any consideration, never mind protection under American Rules Based order. Secondly, American rules and principles are more like guidelines, rather like the Geneva Suggestions.

President Trump said that China’s recent parade was phenomenal and beautiful. The U.S.-China relationship is the most important bilateral relationship. The two countries working together can get many great things done that are good for peace and stability of the world. The U.S. would like to have a long-term, big and great relationship with China. The U.S. will work with China on the economy and trade, and support their teams in reaching a proper deal on TikTok through consultation. The U.S. will also work with China for world peace.

U.S. President Donald Trump plans to impose a new $100,000 application fee for H-1B worker visas, a White House official said, potentially dealing a big blow to the technology sector that relies heavily on skilled workers from India and China.

As part of his broader immigration crackdown, the Republican president was expected to sign a proclamation as early as Friday restricting entry under the H-1B visa program unless the application fee is paid, the official said.

Another incredible own-goal by the Trump administration.

Well the Hukou (Household Registration System) is indeed an unfair system, the state lacks the capacity to integrate migrants workers’ children into Tier cities. I mean it is just unrealistic and physically impossible to have children of migrant workers given the same access to education and healthcare as local Shanghainese, Beijingers, and Cantonese. No doubt it is unfair, but it is unrealistic to a have a sudden surge or elementary school kids and patients in the three Tier 1 cities. The entire welfare system would be saturated under such scenario in any country.

At the end of the days, it is about investing in more human capital in Tier 3 cities and inner provinces. It would have to be done via a combination of industrial policies (say Third Front 2.0) and market economy (ex. allowing provinces to flexibility adjust minimum wages and ease of firing in order to attract more businesses). Meanwhile, much more funding needs to be given to universities in inner provinces to accept their own students as well as students from other poverty stricken regions. For example, instead of giving affirmative actions to Tibet and Islamic regions (where education might risk them becoming more conscious of their unique identities), educational and gaokao point subsidies should be given to rural male students (China’s de facto Dalits) from Henan, Sichuan, Jiangxi, Yunnan, Guizhou, Hebei, etc.
The more I think about it, the more Hukou system makes sense. The west abolished these type of restriction and it is causing serious problems. These kind of old systems exists for a reason, and we abolished them for sake of liberty without a second thought. There should be some restrictions for migration to prevent chaos, primarily for high tier cities.

To curb the displacement of great American workers™ by foreign imports in the US labor market, President Donald J. Trump just announced his decision to impose an $100,000 annual fee on H-1B visas.

Not to say that Big Daddy Trump is necessarily targeting workers or immigrants from any specific country or region, but according to

, 71% of all H-1B visas are held by Indians as of fiscal year 2024.

Unsurprisingly, share prices of two major Indian IT outsourcing companies immediately fell in response to this news:
