Trump 2.0 official thread

I was being sarcastic since you think the part about suppliers/retailers price negotiating is fake.
It is without evidence. The sources it cites are anonymously referred to as "industry sources." There is no corroboration, at least none on the Chinese media.

It is without weight. As you mellowed it down to, "At least considering the idea," which is worth nothing. So far the only effective strategy I have seen at staving off price increases has been declaring exceptionally low value to customs. Personally, my items ordered directly from China have arrived with import charges in the pennies per dollar. Are they just lying? Maybe, or what are the tariffs on anyway? Not the MSRP, so it's up to interpretation. Maybe it's raw materials. So what's 30-145% of 5 ounces of raw plastic at bulk pricing, as opposed to an electric soap dispenser at MSRP?

However, the part about Walmart eating all the tariffs so far has been confirmed by multiple sources from both nations so I don't need any more confirmation from this article as funny as it is that you brought it up.

Trump and childish obsessions, name a better duo.

“The president is obsessed with having a call with Xi,” said one person familiar with the trade talks, convinced he can personally hash out deep-seated divisions between the world’s two largest economies mano a mano with Xi. That conviction belies the difficult position the U.S. is in as it tries to pressure China to fundamentally reorder their nearly $600 billion trade relationship, without doing lasting political damage at home. And it renews questions about what Trump’s endgame is in a trade war with China that is increasingly turning into a game of chicken.

It's a lie that China is going to eat 66% of the tariff for Walmart. If the tariff is based on retail value and retail value is usually double that of landed cost, that would mean the manufacturer makes no money plus has to pay Walmart the extra 16% plus? No. What stops China from saying no and letting Walmart go bankrupt because they have no inventory to sell? Oh let me guess. Selling to an American at Walmart is an honor worth more than money so China is willing to pay 16 cents per dollar more on top of making no money? White supremacist logic.

That’s one component of the article. But that could be fake news like you said.

The other component is how retailers and suppliers are constantly talking, price negotiating. Some Chinese suppliers are at least considering the idea of eating a portion of the tariffs.

If true, you need to snitch some more. Keep that snitch line on hot dial.
The problem has never been if some of Walmart's thousands of suppliers told them they're "considering" has it, the problem is, 1, Beijing won't let you, and 2, per the article you helpfully provided, Walmart has had zero success so far, which just means nobody is actually considering it.

Not everyone who wants you to f* off will tell you to f* off in your face you know, sometimes they just say "we'll look into it". When she tells you she has a boyfriend, it doesn't mean she would go out with you if she didn't, or that she actually has one, sometimes it just means you're a pathetic loser that she'll never go out with and she just doesn't want to see you burst out in tears.

It's honestly pretty pathetic how much Americans are psychologically holding onto "they told me they'll look into it"

It tells you how far away the US is from self-reliance from China.
Im still dumb strucked here i am thinking this new round in the trade war will be a protracted 10 year war. But it didn't even take 3 months before US already started buckling.

Inbe4 Trump Always Chickens Out.

Americans hasn't realized the ability to even chicken out is a mercy that they can't take for granted.
Chickening out on China didn't save them from magnet ban, and countries can always refuse to take prisoners.
