[Foreign Ministry] #China Urges U.S. to Stop Spreading Disinformation and Correct Wrongdoing#
In response to recent U.S. accusations that China violated the consensus of the Geneva economic and trade talks, Foreign Ministry Spokesperson Lin Jian reiterated on the 3rd June that
"pressure and coercion are not the right way to engage with China." He urged the U.S. to
respect facts, cease spreading false narratives, rectify its erroneous actions, and uphold the consensus through concrete measures.
During the regular press conference, a reporter asked:
"The U.S. has repeatedly claimed China breached the Geneva consensus and taken a series of negative steps. What is China’s response?"
Lin Jian noted that the Commerce Ministry had already stated China’s firm position. The Geneva consensus was reached based on
principles of mutual respect and equal consultation, and China has implemented it responsibly.
Without factual basis, the U.S. has smeared China, imposed
export controls on chips, suspended sales of chip-design software, and revoked visas for Chinese students—
extreme measures that severely undermine the consensus and China’s legitimate rights. China firmly opposes these actions and has lodged solemn representations.
"I stress again: Pressure and coercion are not the right approach. We urge the U.S. to face facts, stop peddling lies, correct its mistakes, and honor the consensus with real actions," he said.
