Trump 2.0 official thread

I gather the 125% tariffs on the US is China's way of saying to Trump it is a done deal. The complete decoupling has begun. Reason why China is not going to respond any further to Trump's increasing the ante on the percentages. So Trump can increase the tariff to 400 percent on China, it doesn't matter because there is no more trade between the 2 Nation. It is completely severed.

Just found this thread on X, an interesting read and a potential for what could have been, apparently the tariffs were never supposed to be this massive bomb on the whole world all at once.
I don't believe this b.s-it's like Japan's Pearl Harbour attack where a declaration of war was SUPPOSED to be issued 30mins before the actual attack and thus nullifying the "sneak attack" label -as if it made everything okay. What was yesterday's WH cabinet meeting where Trump was actually sober and not Adderal high("pres. Xi's good friend-I'm sure we can work out a deal") with the rest of his cabinet muzzled and smiling? The morning after can be very ugly-the ship of state has already hit the iceberg-malignant narcissus Orange buffoon can NEVER admit he's wrong,a cabinet of sociopathic sycophantic toady-eunuch yes men, what can go wrong??.......one good thing from all of this:Trump's family and cronies have just reaped billions from his blatant criminal public stock market pump/dump scam-so it's not a total loss.I will lose alot of sleep over the next 3 and a half years:(:(:(

I would not be surprised if Team Trump seized this golden business opportunity to open His own online retail store like Amazon. Selling Temu, Shein and Aliexpress product at discounted prices. Of-course it is paid membership only. He would easily win this one against Amazon and Walmart.

Nah, way too much like actual honest work. Far easier to just short the stock market just before he makes his next announcements.

I still think that the US and China will reach an agreement sooner or later, even if it is not a comprehensive agreement. This trade clash of such intensity is not beneficial to either party; no trade can survive a rate of 145%. But it seems that Beijing is better prepared. Since 2018, they have managed to gather a lot of ammunition to use. Even though China no longer has experts on the US as it did in the first trade war (Liu He), Li Qiang and Wang Wentao seem to be working well. But if the Chinese had started this work of expanding consumption back in 2015/2016, as I have already reiterated here, perhaps today they would have even more means to fight head-on.

It's not just 1 or 2 people making Chinese policy towards the US.
There's an entire team and bureaucracy in the Chinese government.

Presumably they have been modelling and gaming out all sorts of scenarios.

Looks like EU leadership (Von der Leyen + Costa) are heading to Beijing this summer for the 50th anniversary summit. Previously there was some back and forth regarding arrangements over who hosts/who attends. EU wanted Xi to attend instead of Li, so they agreed to break protocol which says Europe should host this year.

Of course, the real credit goes to Trump for providing the catalyst for this high-level exchange.

Takes a real stable genius to ge the EUnuchs to stand up and think for themselves. Time will tell if it is enough to spur them on and regrow a pair.

I can't really be mad at the people you described in your family because I guarantee you that people like that exist and live among many Chinese families, especially in the West (not surprisingly), but also within mainland China itself. The reason for this is a lack of interest in history and sometimes a deliberate, self-imposed amnesia about the traumas that the Chinese people and China have experienced throughout their modern (PRC) existence - I am referring to people that have left mainland China living in the west. This is due to the pain and shame, which result in a lack of confidence in Chinese culture and identity.Despite China's rapid ascent—which many Chinese people overlook the incredible fact that this rise is unprecedented in modern history—there are persistent fears and concerns about the fragility of these gains, worrying that they could easily be taken away by Western powers. Some of us will even blame the government itself and the very system that many Chinese have benefited from as the main cause of the struggle in the first place.

Some will lament that if only China would agree to the U.S. demands, it would never have come to this. If only the CCP did not exist, all of these issues wouldn't be this acute. If only China gave up its illusion of taking Taiwan back, it wouldn't be experiencing this dilemma.

Having said that, I can't just blindly blame the folks who harbor such views and label them as nothing but self-hating sellouts. In my view, this reaction is part of human nature—the need to survive out of pure self-interest. Not to mention, it's the most basic reaction when we are confronted with danger: to either fight or flee. Most people aren't wedded to an ideology, especially when they have already mentally and physically resigned themselves to another country and culture for decades.

A decision that was never taken lightly or made on a whim. Let's not forget that today's China isn't the China of 20 years ago. Heck, in the China of the 1980s, the most readily available mode of transportation was a bicycle!

I have no sympathy for those people, firstly because they are idiots and secondly because they chose to flee.

Why did I list choosing to flee second? Because many who chose to flee have become hardcore patriots after truly understanding the world abroad; however it takes a special type of retard to not see it today
